Pilot Mountain Super Moon

from 66.00

Taken November 13th, 2016 at Pilot Mountain, North Carolina. This is the largest Super Moon since 1948 and will not appear this large again until November 25th, 2035. The weather is the real reason this shot ever happened. There were a few different locations I had been researching for weeks ahead of this event that were much closer to home. I did think of Pilot Mountain as a possible location as well so I knew it was a viable possibility. The day of, conditions that evening weren’t looking ideal at the location I decided on but clear skies were in the forecast for Pilot Mountain. I made the two hour drive and thankful that I did. I don’t know if I’ll be back here to photograph it’s return or somewhere else. One thing I do know, I’ll be out somewhere capturing that moon. This image was published in the February 2017 issue of Our State Magazine.
